Those are beautiful. What kind of a machine do you need to run the game at decent fps in all that splendor and glory?

Super Uber 5GHz Liquid Nitrogen cooled P4 with 3GB PC 4800DDR and 512Mb Video Card by Matrox! Muwahahahahahaha!

Actually WoC, our Lowly Athlon XP 2000+ should handle it just fine, because he Recommended CPU is a 1.6GHz, and the XP 2000+ is 1.67 GHz! w00t!

You really think so? Besides my GC is 'just' a GeForce 4 Ti 4200. The one with the 128 MBs, though I do not know whether that is a pro or a con...

I have just posted am order for another 256 MB of RAM. That, my friend, is w00t! 512, here I come! :D

Ya, It will be fine. Your system isn't very dissimilar from mine, except I have the TI4400.

I have the 4200 (128mb) as well, and while it's a con speedwise (128mb has lower memory speeds) it's really a pro because it will be able to hold all the textures in memory at higher quality -- it's only slower when things are being swapped in and out of memory, which ideally will only be between continents and at start-up.

I am definitely buying a new gfx card for this game -- probably a 9700 Pro -- but I am going to wait until Open Beta is over, so I can find out from people that have played what is the best card for this particular engine. Hell, I'll buy a leaf blower if that card works best with PS.

Well.... honestly i would say to run it smooth you are going to need a fairly high-end machine.....

You need to be more specific Dio. What are your specs, and how is it setup, and how does it run for you?

Well this is sorta depressing news.

I'm running a AMD T-bird 1 Gig (ABIT KT7-RAID MoBo upgrades to 1.2 gig)
256 RAM
GeForce4 TI 4400 128 MB

Right on the Bare minimum level... It's sad, really, but Dave G. did have a point when he said that we've got 3GHz CPUs, and we don't want to have to write games so people with 500MHz CPUs can play them... There was more than that, but I'm sure you get the gist.

Just wish i could find a good barebones system, I just need a better MoBo, maybe a 2.5 gig processor and some decent RAM... the rest I have. Only problem is I just bought a house and am getting married in April, so i'll be broke for a while.

But you have to take into consideration that a XP isn't measured in Mhz ;). A XP 2000+ will often outperform a P4 2Ghz, so you will be getting great FPS at high detail :). Remember that *insert secret name here* said PlanetSide almost performs better than BF1942 and Tribes2.

Is that so? Hmm. I didn't know that... Are you sure about that?

Theres nmothing wrong with a slower processor, I ran a celeron 533MHz just until a few months ago, I played Tribes 2, BF1942, DAoC, aslong as you have RAM and a good video card, you're ok
