View Full Version : Ideas For Alliance Guidelines

Here is a copy and past from my original posting on the Xmen board, and then a few added things to help figure out the limits of the Alliance.

From The Xmen Board:
In Each Squad there will be a designated leader who will earn the most Command Experiance (CEP) and the rest will just have Battle Experiance (BEP). These leaders will get together either in game or on a designated forum to discuss tactics, targets, recource deployments, and so on.

The squads are interchangable in the game since they all fall under the same Empire, but it would be great to set squads in a way that they don't change from mission to mission like most squads in the game will. We will have them set up to specilize in certain tasks, and when that task comes we call them out to take care of it. All squads will be able to take care of its self if needed, and memebers can be interchanged if the mission requires a mixture of squads. In that case a new temperary squad will be formed and given a code name for the mission.

I also suggest we also share monetary resources in game to help support players that may not get as many missions as the others. This way if one squad runs into a loosing streak and needs new supplies, the other squads can support them financily and by sending reinforcements to their possitions.

I still forsee a squad centered on vehicles. My current idea is that they will be the only ones with dropships. The 'Vehicle' squad would drop other squads and their vehicles off at designated drop points, either to defend or attack. The thought about having a set squad for the Dropships is so that the gunners on those ships will specilize on the Dropships defences, how to defend with them and provide cover. They can also be members of other squads, and with their ability to use vehicle mounted weapons, so they can bring more to the squad.

I have imagined three dropships with 5 escort crafts moving our squads from home base and into enemy territory constantly. As one base is attacked, another team will be landing farther behind enemy lines to attack antoher base. The enemy will have to retreat to the second base to keep their movement lines clear of enemy fire. Then as the first base is being secured by ground troops coming in with heavy vehicles, the team is picked back up in the dropships and sent to a support possion to prevent enemy reinforcements from getting to the second base. One or Two squads will be actually attacking the base, the rest will surround the base to prevent anyone from getting in to reinforce their hold on the base. Then when the attack is done, let the ground troops come in and secure the area, and then hold it. Our people will return to home base to re-equip themselfs and get ready for another drop attack. The only problem I have figured out with this tactic is there will not be enough people willing to stay and defend. I think most people will at first be attacking wildly untill several thousand people get into the game and then team work will be required more often.

Another idea is to have a combination Squad that does 'Deep Strikes'. They will go behind enemy lines, either by foot, land vehicle, or dropshipped behind the line, and then search out enemy troops moving alone or convoys transfering resources from one base to another. This squad will be all alone, with no chance of a mid mission rescue from the other squads.

The individual targets will be designated by the squad leader, who has the final word on what targets get hit. If the squad has to abandon the mission, they must split up and dissapear into the enemy lands and then find their own way back to a designated pickup point.

The composition of the 'Deep Strike' Squad will change depending on what the mission is, but it will always have these in it: Leader, 2 Snipers, Hacker/Pilot, Pyro. The Snipers will also double as scouts, the Hacker/Pilot will steal any vehicle deemed required to complete the mission, and the Pyro will be the carrier of all high explosives used for demolition of targets.

When we get into the game, and get everything organized, how about we choose a secter of a continent to control. We should aim to control (defend) 2-4 bases depending on our numbers. We should also try to expand our Alliance to people that don't play at the same time as we do. Since this game runs 24/7, the enemy could make a move wail we are at work or asleep, so it would be smart to have odd hour teams playing.

From our bases we will hold the area and assist our Empire were needed. If the continent is conqured by our Empire then we move to another continent and start over with new bases. If we feel strong enough, we could go into the middle of an enemy continent and take over their bases as ours. This way we can get more kills and help support any attacks our Empire wants to do on the continent.

With the idea of having our own land of a continent, we will have a better basis for operations. From our land we can run recon over a set area outside our radar range, we can do drop runs easyer from the central area for our people.

The Gateways are the key to troop movements between the continents. We may want to look into setting up a service on the main continent that we work on for shuttling troops around, unless one appears when you conqure an area. We could make some money on this too, by charging a small fee for a lift from home base to a Gateway or to a battle zone (charge more for vehicles). This will help keep our people equipted with the best gear, and help maintian our vehicle numbers. If some people get battle wary, but don't want to stop playing, they could do this as a service. Think of it as setting up a business. We could also run supply runs to front line troops as well.

Enemy weapons may be very usefull. Some of the enemy weapons will be more powerful then our own so it would be a good idea to keep some of the weapons. I hope they give each person a 'stock pile' that they can keep back home. It maybe possible to use the enemy weapons to help make areas unstable. For example, if we find a few soldiers that can't stop squabling, then we can help agrivate them untill they start fighting themselfs. With the disruption going on, we can move in and take over the area with fewer casualtys. This tactic will probably be hard to do and most likely be outlawed in one way or another.

New Things-
Alliance Guide Lines Ideas:
1. Each Team Will Help Any Allied Team In Need Of Help
2. All Teams Will Coordinate Troop Movement With Each Other
3. Each Team Will Notify Anyone In The Area Of Enemy Movement
4. No Team Killing On Purpose
5. No Swindling Of Equipment Or Vehicles Deemed Needed For A Mission
6. If A Member Of The Alliance Is Injured, Surrounded, Out Of Ammo, Or Anything Else, You Must Provide Assistence Unless Otherwise Ordered By An Officer For The Duration Of The Mission

Thinking Behind These Rules-
1. We should always support each other to prevent a failure (Friends Support Each Other).
2. This rule is to help make sure we don't step on each others' feet and to help make sure supplies are were they are needed.
3. This rule is to help keep friendlies safe from enemy troops infringing on lands under our watch.
4. I think this rule is self explanitory, If you kill another member of the Alliance then that is grounds for dismissal, or some other punishment.
5. This rule is to make sure that if one team has tons of equipment or vehicles, while another team is either running on bad times or on harder resistance, then the teams must share resources deemed needed for their survival.
6. This rule is to reinforce rule one and to expand it to the individual members of the team, if one person is on recon and another in the area under attack or coming back from an attack then the person on recon must give aid or support.

Please give your ideas, words, statments, about what I have thought up. If you hate it, then help out by either making up your own list, or rebuilding my list. All inputs are welcomed and requested.

*Edit the rules/ Guidelines for some Spellings, etc... I Just go crazy about that stuff... Sorry. :( */EDIT*

I agree with these guidelines whole heartedly. We need to set this thing up as a tru Army/ Merc Unit would. Mutually supporting supplies, manpower, and cover fire if nescessary. I know the game is still a long ways off, but we may want to get a preliminary head count from all tribes, to see where we stand in the Manpower issues, and if we may need to consolidate a clan or 2 together in-game, to create a truly effective unit.

Also, this Vehicle Squadron: It should not be any 1 Outfit's responsibility to have to be the pilots all the time. Me, persoanlly, I want to be a full time Pilot/Gunner/ Fighter Escort. I play TAC Because of the vehicle based Combat, and teamplay required. Planetside can be our natrual progression from TAC, or Tribes2, whatever. This will take Teamplay to a whole new level, much more than WW II Online ever could.

Definately good, Maybe we should break that up and put it in some kind of HTML format and link it from the privat forum. Make it easier to read.
I was excited by the second squad idea, I would like to be apart of the team that attacks from within

Any ideas on how to make the Guide lines look more legal and aged? How about we use old English to make them seem like they were taken from the middle ages?

A Little rewording maybe... They don't need to drag on and on, (Not saying that they do now, I'm just thinkin about after editing..) We can create a website here, using this hosting for space. I'm starting an HTML class next week, so after I learn a few things, I can start on that maybe. ;)

I have already taken an HTML class in high school so I can help out a little. I am going to take a C++ class in College to. HTML is easy, if you only do the basics, and it can get complicated easily.

I have high hopes for learning more than the basics. Then we can have a nice website that looks very nice.

I'm with SH on the concept of Vehicle Squadron. I don't believe it should be up to one squad. We need good people on each clan to be pilots. However, it would be great if we could get all of the pilots together now and then for practicing drop points and invasion scenarios.

The guidelines are very good. I think they will allow current clans to stay close, while giving the necessary manpower for larger operations. Getting a calendar is going to be vital for strategy planning as well as scheduling large scale invasions.

I'd have to agree on the celendar, and as the release date draws closer, we can think about getting one put up here on the site. As for practicing scenarios, the only thing we have to use really, is this board, and if you want to start playing with Vehicle controls, Tribes 2 or the Mobile Forces demo.

I am already the master at driving the Beowolf in T2, and not too bad at piloting the Shrike and ThunderSword, even though I am no goo at fighting back only defensive flying.

The vehicle squad, as I menchened would not be the perminint squad for those soldiers, but a secondary squad in which they operate in. The celendar would be of great help once we get the leaderships of each squad in place and the lines of communications in place to get informations between the squads at a fast rate. The celendar will help more for large scale operations were coordination between many squads is needed.

I have to laugh. When that was written the Devs were going to have weapons, armor, vehicles, and ammo cost some kind of points, like money. Also they were going to give us garages to store vehicles in.
