Here is video of the homer and the celebration... (http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070806&content_id=2133618&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb)

Hmmm, so Bonds hit the record breaking bomb...

But who really cares...he broke a 33 *I think* year old record held by The Hank. So Bonds in his career will probably end with about 763, thats my prediction, assuming he retires at the end of this year.

As you all well know, I am a die hard WhiteSox fan, have been my entire life, will be the rest of my life, and I HATE the Yankees and hate A-Rod more...but lets look at a few things. A-Rod, at least to my knowledge has never done steriods at all. He is a natural talent, and I will give him that, he really is. A-rod is only 32 years old and is sitting at the prime number of 500 Home runs...hit in ONLY 12 and a half seasons. If A-rod stays healthy and plays only until he turns 40, which is 8 more full seasons, he will need only average 32 homers a year to tie the record that Bonds sits at right now. I figure A-rod will play until 42 and be the first player to hit 800 homers *only needing 30 per year, and not counting in the home runs he will hit the rest of this year*.

So in essence, what I am saying, is that A-rod will break this record. A-rod has 5 seasons (plus this one more than likely considering he has 36) in which he has hit 40-50 home runs, and 2 seasons that he has hit 52+. I think A-rod will definately do it with ease, especially if he stays in the American League.

I can't believe it was "BREAKING NEWS" during the evening shows.

When he can get it like Hank without using drugs then Ill consider it a record breaker.

Uh what about pitchers that were using 'roids? Did Hank ever have to deal with THAT? I'm just sayin.... a bunch of old time ball players were dirty crooks, womanizers, etc.... Was there an asterisk next to Babe Ruth because he didn't have to play against the black players of his era?

Let's face it. Baseball never banned steroids and Barry open admitted he used the cream and the clear. But he would have still put up hall of fame numbers anyway, just not the actual records maybe.

And I call BS about a-rod. A shortstop / skinny 3rd baseman hitting that many homers when it's never been done before? How about testing his little ass over the past 10 years too... oh wait, you can't and it wasn't against the rules anyway.

Oh and about A-rod breaking the record. He damn well might, but everybody thought the same thing about griffey, who I feel is a LOT better hitter. You never know when the injury bug will strike!

Baseball sucks (to watch), IMO. :p Anymore it's the sport that's around to remind people why they watch football.

I care so much about this that I have been ignoring this thread.
