PlanetSide will soon be released, but the development team isn't resting. Check out what's on the horizon for updates and additions to the game!

Here's a peek at what you can expect in the near future for PlanetSide:

New aircraft :
Liberator - a brand new common pool bomber
Lodestar -- a vehicle transport aircraft

New vehicle:
Skyguard -- an anti-aircraft buggy

Platoons: Combine up to three squads to facilitate chat, share XP and organize and command large-scale missions with up to 30 people .

Sanctuary Strikes: Strike at the heart of your enemy. By achieving a "lock" on the three continents connected to an enemy sanctuary, launch attacks via the opened warpgates.

Quarterly Outfit Competitions: Conduct special events featuring structured competitions between outfits. Games like "Capture the Flag" and others can be played.

PlanetSide is a persistent world, constantly changing. Updates like this are made on an ongoing basis, so stay up-to-date with what's to come in regular update reports right here.

empire specific aircraft would be sweet...we should get a plane called the Intruder or something that cloaks...that'd be bad-ass. or some crazy flying disc, like a UFO. :)

I don't think Sanctuary battles would be a good idea, LAG CITY...lol.

I do not like the idea of the sanctuary not being a sanctuary. Perhaps instead it would simply disable their hart and force the surrounded faction to use a gate to break their ineptness

maybe something more along the lines of relics like that wer in daoc would be more in order. bases outside the sanctuary which hold items that maybe give access to abilities or special vehicles

Well you do have to own continent lock on all the warpgates that lead to a sanc, that's a hard task in itself I bet, since most people can gather at the sanc and break through that lock.

Omg. I've done nearly 600 posts on this forum. Where is my life headed? I love the idea of the AA buggy. Vehicles need some serious AA capacity.

Two things I hate about this.

First, sanctuary is a sanctuary. I don't agree with the thought of even having the possibility of it working otherwise. It wouldn't really be a detriment to us seeing as how we can organize quickly, but really hurt those people who are solo or who don't have an outfit setup.

Also, the bomber is a horrible, horrible idea. Can you say T2 again or BF1942? I can't think of a way to make this work. You make it too slow then it's uneffective, you make it fast enough to do a run and suddenly everyone has to do air power instead of ground assault.

And outfit competitions?? I'm playing PS to get away from CTF and the like.

It just doesn't make sense. It's like they're trying to make this game all things to all people rather than take one thing and make it really, really good...which I don't think they are there yet on that.

It seems plausible that in 1000 years or whatever, there will still be a need for bombers. And naval weapons.

To not build a presence with either of those would deny yourself the ability to rule that area of the battlefied. It wouldn't make sense.

then again, a lot of stuff in PS doesn't "make sense" but, as long as it's reasonably balanced i am for it.
