I've been taken aback by the implementation of paid name changes (http://www.wowinsider.com/2007/10/26/finally-paid-name-changes/), PvE to PvP (http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/09/11/pve-to-pvp-paid-transfers-now-available/) transfers and gender changes (http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/12/10/character-re-customization-available-for-a-small-fee/). For years, I've read clamoring for race, faction and class changes.
Zarhym (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=13393781835&pageNo=1&sid=1#14)weighed in Wolfbite of Chromaggus (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=13393781835&sid=1&pageNo=1)' thread in the general forums requesting class changes. Name and appearance changes are purely cosmetic, while allowing class changes would affect the overall dynamics of the game. Later in the thread (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=13393781835&sid=1&pageNo=2#33) Zarhym stated that this is partially to avoid creating a "flavor of the month" class, and would prefer to address player concerns. Rerolling was the most common prescription amongst posters to solve the original poster's issue.
