Ok, so I had to buy a new Van....
*DISCLAIMER*
This is the same thread for all those who frequent the XMEN forums, so you can continue your regular browsing. */DISCLAIMER* Now, that that's out of the way.... The Transmission went out in my wifes' Van almost 2 months ago, and I found a guy willing to sell me a transmission and remove and replace the old one for $600. (I have a '90 Plymouth Grand Voyager.) However, the transmission happened to be connected to a model identical to mine, but looked 10 times better, and rode a hell of a lot nicer. So he offered me a deal: trade my van and give him $1000 because he needed a motor for a caravan, and because this other van was worth driving down the road still. Finally, I came up with $900 cash, and he took it, and I got the van. :D (Actually, it was $700 cash, and $200 worth of Tech Support on his PC 2 weeks ago.) You can see some pics here. I disabled the scrolling on the frames pages, and if you have trouble seeing the whole image, let me know, and I will edit the pages and reenable scrolling. |
Who's the midget?
Cute kid... |
|
Now don't take this the wrong way but.......
:idhitit: BTW, looks like you got a good deal on the van. |
:D I DO hit it. :D
And we'll see about the deal on the van. Don't know how reliable it is yet... :) |
Looks like that Van is parked next to a military base of some sort..
|
Nah, it's a self-serv storage place. They've got a lot of room there not being utilized yet. The closest base to me is Camp Ripley, which is about an hour away.
|
Speaking of hitting it, here's some pics from my wreck last week when I totalled my truck. I had to hound the other driver's insurance company for a solid week (while i was racking up rental costs, storage costs, etc) before they finally claimed liability. Hopefully my fat settlement check will be arriving any day now and I'll go get something new.
Sorry for the high-rez, big-ass pictures: http://www.hunterltg.com/temp/truck_wreck_1.jpg http://www.hunterltg.com/temp/truck_wreck_2.jpg http://www.hunterltg.com/temp/truck_wreck_3.jpg http://www.hunterltg.com/temp/truck_wreck_4.jpg http://www.hunterltg.com/temp/truck_wreck_5.jpg No one was hurt in the accident. I was the only one who sustained anything, and all that was was a cut on my left arm from the airbag going off. |
Ouch
|
Poor little Ranger... :( Glad nobody was seriously hurt. I suppose it bent the frame pretty good eh?
|
The frame is slightly bent on that side. Actually, according to the insurance company, the main factor that made it totalled is that the airbag deployed. (!?!?!?)
I'm glad no one was hurt too.... I could have easily t-boned the girl that pulled out in front of me, so it could have been A LOT worse. I was just glad that I didn't break anything that would have prevented me from playing Planetside!! :D |
Yeah, an airbag deployment can run around 10-15,000 smakeroos to fix, so Insurance companies just total the car out.. It's cheaper to do it that way.
|
What year is that Nos? No passenger side airbag, and drivers sidein the steering wheel is typically cheaper. Is there more mechanical damage then the pics show?
I spent 12 years working in the parts dept of car dealerships, mostly as the wholesale guy to body and repair shops. Whenever I see accident pics all that runs through my head is the list of what needs to be changed. Kinda scary actually, since I've been out of the business for 3 years :) |
Whoa...that's exactly what i used to do before I got into computers. Some of that knowledge actually came in very useful when I was dealing with the insurance company.
It's a 96 Ford Ranger XLT. There are (were?) passenger side airbags, but they didn't go off. |
Heh, I got into computers too...actually my last job was in a real small dealer building their website and selling old parts on ebay and I parlayed that into an entry level web development job. 3 years later I'm making more then if I had spent 20 years in parts. I still get nostalgic when I walk into a repair shop or parts store and smell the oil/chemicals smell though.
Which companies did ya work for? I did the majority of my time at Chrysler/Dodge dealers, but spent some time with Volvo, Porsche, Audi and VW. About the only thing I miss is the guys I worked with/managed, offices are so quiet. :) |
