Hello

Hello!!!!!!!!

that is all.

I need to upgrade my PC so it will be able to store massive game files since it ran out of space at the last patch. I have a 1TB SATA drive sitting next to it saying "install me!!!!" but the power supply doesn't play nice with SATA... typical, nothing is simple.

Between work and school and the family, I've been too busy to really notice it except for missing youse guys.

I'll be back at some point soon, just dunno when yet.

If it's a matter of the power supply doesn't have a sata power plug, you can buy adaptors.

Re: Hello

The above ref. cable will work. I think I might have one or two of those, I could send it to you if you need it, provided I can find it.

Re: Hello

Assuming your PSU has enough wattage to handle the load of everything, do as stated above--get an adapter. And yes, monoprice is the best online place for this. A fraction of the cost and quality parts.

Re: Hello

I ordered one of those... It's the rebuild that's going to take some time. A fresh install of Winblows and all software is going to suuuuuck.

I'm sure it's going to be one of those snowball things, though.. add a harddrive, find out it's running slow because I don't have enough video memory or ram, etc... I did start checking out the expansion, though. looks really cool.

meh. I'll prolly start on it this weekend. I have several papers & projects to write for both school & work, so it may simmer a bit until just after Christmas.. we'll see.

Re: Hello

I've heard of people moving there wow folder to a portable hard drive. Here is one way to do it.

Just connect your old hard drive to your new PC (as a slave, don't try and boot off it). In there, probably in your 'Program Files' folder, you'll have the 'World of Warcraft' folder.

Copy this folder. Put it in your new main drive (almost certainly your C: drive).

Inside the copied Warcraft folder will be a file called 'Launcher. e x e'. Right-click on this and select 'Send copy to desktop'.

You now have a new shortcut which will start Warcraft. That's it. Done. Remove the old drive at your leisure. The whole process should take less time than the original install.

This has worked twice for me so far on XP. Not tried on Vista but I suspect it will work there too. It's not hardware-dependent, as both times it was on completely different kit from the one I did the original install on.

Re: Hello

Yep, Wow is portable, as it doesn't mess with the Windows Registry, etc.
