Anti-AFK

is there a macro or something that will get my char to jump or something to keep me active and keep from logging out while say I eat dinner or something? I hate the idea of queueing up in order to get back in just because RL just interfered for a little while..

thanks

Re: Anti-AFK

With Silvers instructions, i made one using the G15 keyboard....but decided against using it for the ban reasons....

I spent the better part of 4 hours this afternoon coming in every 5 minutes or so and hitting the space bar while watching football and doing some stuff around the house.

Does sending chat messages prevent you from going AFK? then Gryph's guild recruiter addon should work for that

No, takes a keyboard or mouse input to keep you from going AFK. I thought about doing it with my G15 too, but it would be so easy for them to monitor for actions that happen in exact intervals.

Stang and I have gone to the store and fast food places and are still logged in when we get back, then we hit the space bar, then have dinner, then hit the space bar.

You have like 15-20 minutes before you get kicked to the character screen, then like another 15 minutes before you get kicked offline.

Re: Anti-AFK

That's true. I know I've gone AFK before while smelting a few hundred ore. Even though you're 'doing' something, the game doesn't view there being any activity.

As far as being booted for inactivity, if I have to do something I usually just make a point of coming to move every half hour or so. Even if she does get logged out, you still sit on the character screen for quite a while before you officially disconnect and have to requeue to get back in. The only potential problem is the random disconnects that seem to occur for no reason at all from time to time, so if that happens while you're away and you don't get back in quickly, you'll be stuck waiting when you do want to play again.

Re: Anti-AFK

well, it was worth a thought, anyway.. i'm not gonna bot it up to avoid a queue. I just read while waiting or load more music into iTunes... meh. It'll settle back down.

The really odd thing is that the queueing on this server just seems to take LONGER. 500 people on Mal'Gankis was still only about 20 mins. Here, it's like 2 hrs.

Re: Anti-AFK

I think you also have to consider that long queues breed longer queues. When queues are relatively short and small, people don't really care. Another 5-10 minutes isn't a big deal so they log off more freely. When you have an hour long queue, people will naturally be resistant to logging off until they're done. This fact, combined with the expansion making people hit the WarCrack pipe a bit harder leads to an ugly situation.

I'm informed that MG is just as bad, if not worse, in terms of how long queues take now. Hour+ for 800-1000 people on any given night (basically it sounds like take Alleria's queue and add 200 to it)...except in that case after waiting an hour you're logging into Alliance on MG, so you get screwed twice.
