Re: Anyone done Vista?

Yea, Ultimate version... its pretty cool. Lots of new bells and whistles. Having problems with SoundBlaster Audigy 2 drivers atm... other than that good.
Haven't had a chance to really dig deep into much yet.

Re: Anyone done Vista?

I'm running the RTM of Vista Enterprise Edition (not sure of the actual name) on a test laptop at work... it is different. from an enterprise standpoint I can't see a mass migration until a hardware refresh occurs, internal websites, client/server, collaboration tools are going to take a lot of work to overhaul or just do away with or find another solution for. I haven't dug deep enough to test it's fault tolerance yet - having fun just setting up personal certs and outlook encryption. Then again, it runs and it runs on our work laptops (Dell D410, 1GB Ram) with a score of 1.0. I wish we could make the jump to Linux, but there really isn't a "enterprise ready" support structure in place like the mighty MS.

I tried the RC and reloaded XP due to frame rate issues in WoW - only in multi-person battles. It did allow me to run my tuner card and WoW concurrently though, not too bad for multitasking... if they fix the frame rate wrinkles in the production version (probably need new video drivers) it's a pretty solid build for a MS initial release - that's not saying much though lol

Re: Anyone done Vista?

Unlike some brave (some would say foolhardy) souls who installed it on their primary machine, we're due to get five testing laptops in soon. I'll let you know feedback from those fellows.

Re: Anyone done Vista?

Its okay. It just has more requirements and doesn't have the backwords compatibility that XP had on it's release. Besides the sound problem (Creative Labs problem) and the decompression (fixed with 3rd party software) I don't have any problems with it.
