Video Games Live
http://videogameslive.com/index.php?s=home
Took the family to this concert at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. It was awesome, they had a big screen and a huge orchestra with choir. The show lasted about 3 hours and covered the gambit from Asteroids to Zelda. They started out with the standard console fair frogger, defender, joust, tempest - they hit donkey kong and went into the various incarnations of Mario. then they busted into newer games starting with metal gear solid, the first of two acts ended with Tron. During the twenty minute intermission, the screen showed a loading bar that dutifully moved across the screen. The second act started with Zelda and lasted quite some time, then they did Myst/Riven stuff, Advent Rising and God of War and then ended with Halo - they actually had a bunch of people from Bungie there and a few Nintendo workers, but mostly the composers appeared in video taped spots from Japan - except for Halo's composer. Due to lack of ticket sales they have cancelled most of their concerts... it's too bad. |
