Mobile authenticator comes to Europe
You asked, Blizzard listened. The Battle.net Mobile Authenticator is now available for free in the European iTunes App Store, for iPhone and iPod Touch. The mobile authenticator debuted in the US back in March. Blizzard still promises to be working on versions for other phones; we'll keep you posted if we hear anything.
The Mobile Authenticator works the same was as the hardware authenticator, except it's an app on your phone. Once an authenticator is bound to your account, you can only log in if you have the codes the authenticator generates. This should enhance security greatly, as long as no-one manages to steal both your phone and your login/password. The Mobile Authenticator does require network access once, to sync with the authenticator server, but after that it can be used offline. I'm not in Europe, so I can't see if the link works - anyone want to try it out for me? And if you want to see what the app is like before you download it, we did a hands-on review back in April.
