problem with download
I bought all of the planetside disks. I have a 56k dial up modem and the download of the game off the disk and internet would take literally a week to d/l. Im getting roadrunner in a week so then it should be a faster download but why is the d/l so long i heard dial up people play the game. Is there a disc apart from the game you buy in stores to d/l it faster? I bought the 20 dollar game its not the straight d/l and it would still take forever. it kept adding hours to the estimation it got to 29hrs left anyway will the game be alot better on roadrunner.

prob just downloading the patches to the game. I think one of them is quite big. Turn it on at night and hopefully it'll be done in the morning.

They are constantly adding stuff to the game. What you have is the basic disks. They have added tons of stuff so it has big download. So thats what takes so long. Its a pain but its worth it.

Wonder if one of us can send you a copy of the game via snailmail or something. I don't have the thing installed anymore, but I'd do that for joo.

You can't buy one. The patches aren't like other game patches where it is just a single insaller that patches your game, the autoupdater downloads individual files as needed and patches the files one at a time. Someone would have to patch the whole game and send you the entire directory.
Do you have a laptop? Maybe you could go to the library and get the game updated then transfer it? |

Yes, the download will go pretty fast if you want to wait.

People that play on 56k can play for so long then they lock up and the game dies for them and seem to get frustrated and leave the game. So maybe wait a week til you get your faster connection so you'll enjoy the game and not have so many connection issues . Or just give it a try on your 56k .

Ya, I'd wait the week. Then you can get the game updated in like 30 mins and be killin like a villian.

You could contact the PS tech support if the Roadrunner thing does not work out.

well if you're just installing PS you've got about 8 new vehicles, like 5 new weapons, 4 new maps and a whole pile of code changes to download, when i came back after a hiatus it took 40 mins to download on RR, will take years on a 56gay gonnection

I think he gave up, he never returned to tell us if it worked or not on RR.
