Actually even a new vid card is not going to help as much as you think. If you could upgrade the processor and vid card but keep your mobo and other stuff that would be the best overall solution. Depends on which socket proc you have.
But yea I would upgrade first... you've got a solid system. Just that a new vid card would be proc limited... at least for games like BF2 where there's a crapload of stuff on-screen at the same time. |

Get a new vid card, your rig is fine. Something along the lines of a Nvidia 6600gt will serve you well and won't break the bank.
Out of curiosity why won't they take it back? And have you tried RMA'ing the card to the manufacturer? I got a killer deal on a 6800gt that way (I bought a refurbed one from newegg for 210 and rma'd it when it turned out bad. Leadtek sent me a brand new one in the box with all the games and stuff). It takes a little time, but it sounds like your willing to wait the couple of weeks if it meant a new free card. |
