64-bit...yay or nay?

Just like Mr. Spinning Hat, the time for a new computer has approached. Before I even start looking, what do you guys think about 64-bit processors? Should I go ahead and invest the money for the up and coming 64-bit programs or can I be cheap and wait another couple of years?

The way that the A64 chips access memory is different from a 32bit processor and as such they provide a performance boost not only in 64bit coded programs but in normal 32bit programs as well.

In short, no question, you should do it, but make sure to get a socket 939 (if you go AMD) board and not the cheaper (but also dead end) 754.
