Reinstall the game, there is a patch recall.

HOTFIX for Battlefield 2 v1.01 Coming Soon
First off, a HUGE thanks to all of you who emailed me in regards to the memory leak found in the update we released earlier this week (v1.01). Your emails found their way to our production team and they’re in the process of evaluating what needs to be done in order to get this fixed. In the meantime, and since the 1.01 update is causing memory leakage on some systems, we recommend that you reinstall the game and NOT the v1.01 update we released earlier this week.

Reinstalling Battlefield 2 will not affect your in-game medals or ranked server statistics. EA and DICE are committed to getting a fix for v1.01 as soon as we possibly can and will continue to keep you informed through this web space in the coming days.

NOTE: If you installed and are running the newer server files (Win and Linux versions) we made available earlier this week, please revert those as well. We found that those files had the same issues with memory leaks as did the v1.01 update. You can download the older versions here.

So I guess there was a leak in the Client

I think it would be advantageous to all of us to be on the same page. Who knows how long it will take EA to address this. I know a few have already reinstalled and I am as well tonight. I think Dakota said he was as well. Can we assume the offical ATF position (in regards to playing together) is play 1.0 version (reinstall w/o patch)? It's probably worth it given how terrible the patched servers can be and how many are dropping out to revert back to 1.0. Reinstall seems to be best route.

It should be fast and easy. When you go to uninstall, do NOT check any of the check boxes at the end of the install about deleting profiles. That way all you have to do is reinstall and all of your controls, custom settings and all that stuff are retained and it's like you never touched the game (minus no longer having the 1.01 patch). It really shouldn't be any issue at all to reinstall the game if you take the measures to retain your profile--no need to muck around in configuration stuff.
