Todays Downtime
So....
Whats everyone doing today? 1. Playing on Lightnings Blade? 2. Playing on some other sever? 3. Actually using the time to do something other than play WoW? I may actually choose #3 today..... however #1 is always an option. |

Re: Todays Downtime
I don't know...Cannon's suggestion of dropping by PS to see how things are didn't seem that bad. Unless I actually remembered to cancel my sub....then I'll probably be doing something offline for once.

Re: Todays Downtime
What Cannon meant to say:
It actually would be rather funny to see Mr. Stoke in PS. I remember running a n00b around PS at one point and he stepped outside and a Liberator (heavy bomber to you unenlighted ones) blasted him with cluster bombs...then he respawned, stepped out the front door straight into a Flail shot (read: artillery). I was like "yeah, there's a lot of danger on the battlefield" while trying so hard not to crack up. |

As I recall, you're limited to Battle Rank 6 (of 25) and can't get access to any of the Core Combat weapons. Everything else is fair game tho and the account would be valid up until March 27th, 2007 for free. It's worth noting that unlike WoW, level means nothing. The gun itself does the same damage in the hands of a BR1 as it does in the hands of a BR25. The health of that BR1 will be effectively the same as that BR25 too. Only difference is if the gun you're holding sucks for what you're doing, the BR1 is kinda stuck while the BR25 has a whole slew of weapons and vehicles he can pull when he's at a base. Out in the field, everyone is equal in the eyes of the gun, which makes it a quite refreshing change from WoW's "PvP" which is really just Player vs. Equipment too often. |

Re: Todays Downtime
Markov server, Vanu Sovereignty (We're purple so we must be EPIC, AMIRITE?!?!?!????).
I'll run you through the VR courses if I'm still awake. It's really funny how the VR course is exactly like basic training. It shows you how the weapons and such work and yet manages to leave you completely unprepared for actual combat. If you've played FPS games before I'm going to give you a little tip to save some frustration. PlanetSide uses Client-Side Hit Detection...so you don't lead someone to account for lag...just movement. If your screen shows the bullets hitting, they hit. This can work against you though because you'll think you're in a building but because of network delays, you're still outside on their screen...so you still die. Once you get a feel for how it works, it's really no different than Server-Side Hit Detection (what most games use), but it's a bit of a shock the first few times and you'd swear the game was buggy if you don't understand that concept as tanks "shoot you through walls". My only regret is that as Vanu, we'll never have Stoke take the yellow bullets... |

Oh, and Stoke don't feel bad if PS makes your computer cry like a little girl. It's possible (though not guaranteed) that you'll be in a fight involving 300 players at once (SUCK IT AV...you and your puny 80!). I'll PM you a few movies to watch after I find a place to stash it (Gryph ain't here yet...) |
