Since I'm very much into vehicles I'm thinking like this:
Primary role: THZ transport pilot/driver coupled with heavily armored medic/engineer, getting these certs in about this order: Galaxy, Agile armor, Reinforced armor, Medic 1+2, Engineering, some weapons, AMS, perhaps Deliverer + Sunderer, other vehicles. Secondary role: Tanker with Medic/Engineer/Hacking abilities. Tertiary roles: Defender: MAXs (all types) and Reinforced armor with Medic & Engineering certs. Recopn/Sniper: Agile armor, Sniper and Mosquito certs along with other small vehicles. Something in this fashion, perhaps.

I really like it on bottom, because then I don't have to do as much of the work.

Anyone know whether there are limitations on armor types versus vehicle piloting like in tribes?

Most likely, yes. Since it states in the description of the Agile armor type something like: "bla bla bla... A fighter wearing Agile armor may also pilot all vehicles. bla bla bla.." SO, yes, is the answer to your question, I'm fairly certain.

It'd be hard to imagine a MAX armor type piloting a tiny Mosquito Fighter... But now, if you were piloting an AMS, you could then switch to MAX, and assault the NME.

From what info I've gathered so far, this is what I'm probably leaning towards:
Primary: Combat Engineer, with focus on supply/repair of frontline forces. Also tacking on anti-tank capabilities and munitions laying (remotes and mines) for base and convoy defence, but will leave frontline fighting to the infantry. Will probably add on hacking once I get enough cert points. Seconday: Sniper/Medic with a fast vehicle (Haraser). No idea for tertiary roles, but MAX armor looks tempting. |

Hey Arkmon, your Combat Engineer role is basically a Medic with really cool remote toys.
And has anyone noticed how lots of people want to be sniper/medics? Isn't that a kind of selfish oxymoron? Snipers hide in trees and bushes and shoot single targets a long way away, rarely coming into contact with the NME if they're a good sniper. Medics by nature are in the thick of the fighting relatively unarmed, trying to heal and revive friendly units, and are in almost constant contact with the NME. But what I hope, is that combatants have the respect for the medics like during WWII. The Germans knew and understood the unwritten rule that you didn't intentionally shoot the Medics, as they were relatively unarmed and therefore not a real threat to you. That kind of thinking would not make the Medics invulnerable, they would still need to be mindful of where they stand, but they could at least have a decent chance of surviving an engagement and revive more than one soldier before he dies. |

I'm surprised more haven't chosen hacking/inf as a primary role. Those skills are going to be necessary, as are MAX's to break down base defenses. I'm glad to hear we have people planning on supportive roles though, like the medics, engineers and repairers.

Spinning,
I don't think we'll see that level of chivalry in PS , especially considering medics will likely have enough certs to wear the medium armor and carry some nasty weapons. -shark |

I know it. It's a bastard that way I guess. But, if that happens to be the case, the Medic will be my first target.

In DAoC the unwritten rule was kill the medics first
if you find a healer slaughter his ass... meanwhile protect yours the way a typical fight worked was both sides rushed... healers resurected the dead ASAP. the team who was able to res the fastest usually won. if the other side broke thier your wall on figthers and hit your healers... you ran like hell. sometimes you got away sometimes you didn't... there was always lots of bodies everywhere. |
