Technical Problem
Ever since the latest patch, I'm getting severe stuttering when playing PS. My framerate shows 80+ however it is completely unplayable. I had installed DesktopX but uninstalled it. I don't really think its the new NVIDIA driver they put in as i was using it before they put it into the latest patch and everything was great. I can't exactly figure out whats going on. I've read the official forum and it seems only a couple of other people have reported it but to no response.

Running with 16 or 32 bit textures? I noticed on my old machine (GeForce4 TI 4600) that framerate was much better with 16-bit.
If you're already running those...dunno. |

Maybe they meant 30 hrs instead of days.

Well, I figured out what it was. They didn't automatically renew for some reason, so I had to enter my cc info again. Oh well. Now if I can figure out this stuttering problem

Just downloaded the cgD3D8.dll from before this patch and overwrote the one in the PS directory after the patcher ran. Didn't make any difference. So I know it isn't that. It has to be something else in the latest patch....

I noticed the same stuttering you mentioned, but I have a GF6800 Ultra.. Kinda sucks to see that high of a framerate, and still stutter.

Yeah, I tried adjusting my textures to 16 bit, lowering all settings, anything I could think of. I enabled and disabled just about everything and nothing seems to work. Hopefully they know something about this and attempt to fix it, otherwise my PS playing days are over.

I thought maybe it could be tied to the new hardware tracker. I went in and disabled it and it had no effect....looks like we're screwed

That sucks.. all that Horsepower, and it still plays like crap... I can play Far Cry full bore at 1280x1024 at 95fps... You'd think my machine could handle Planetside.

I'm hoping they address this in the coming few days. I'm going through withdrawl.

I just tried PS a day or two ago and noticed all of my FPS have halved. My highest was in the 60 and lowest was 3. The average was about 50. I will not play any more if they don't have this fixed by this weekend because my 30 days is almost over as is.

Well, it took two months, but I figured it out. McAffee Firewall was causing all the problems. Once I uninstalled it, it played perfectly.
