Whatcha think?

Well I got bored and decided, here's a little glimpse of what I've been up to- note I took time off working on this for a long time.

One of the figures was distinctly male in gender while the other looked to be female. Blaring off white lights shined down on the occupants as the two moved to the front of the room, the rest of those present quieting down from their chatter.

“'Bout time you two made it here Elijah, you called the meeting yet you two are the last ones in.” came a voice from one of the three males already seated in the room. The brown haired man had a trace of a smile adorning his face. “You two doing something we should know about?” of course the implications behind that given who had just walked wasn't lost on those present. Though they had the decency to hold in their laughter. The female next to him slapped him on the back of his head, “You know better then that Gryph.”

The brown haired man from earlier, Gryphon, merely laughed, though he cut it short as Duel and Elijah made their way over to their seats at the rectangular table. “Anything else you guys need to bring up besides Duel's sexuality?” the man earlier identified as Elijah asked, a hint of amusement at the expense of his comrade in his voice. “No? Alright. Well the only thing we have today really is to go over the new recruits.” A teal rectangle popped up in front of him, screen created by a small amount of nanites linked to the personal computer built into his suit. A larger screen on the wall flickered to life, displaying a total of ten images with text flowing out next to each image.

“If you were wondering, Duel and I were taking the time to narrow the selection for you guys.” The screen blinked again as it reset itself as some of the dossiers vanished, leaving only half of the original ten remaining. “Figured you guys would like to see who you'd be working with in the future.”

There was a slight squeak as a pair of boots slid off the table as one of the men who had been in the room earlier stood up, a hand coming up to slide his cowboy hat back a bit so he could see. “Yo 'lijah ain't that kid yours?” The rest of the room followed the hand he waved at the screen, directing their collective attention to one of the profiles shown. “Looks like he takes after his ol' man eh?”

The older man sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Yeah, the kid's mine. Figured we'd pick him up before some other outfit did and subsequently kicked him out.” It was true after all, from his record and all commentary by the kid's trainers pointed to the fact that kid was a hell raiser. As one of his boot camp sergeants put it “Kid doesn't know the meaning of the words 'shut up'.” This added in with his personality gave him the nickname “instigator” and also put him as having taken two instead of one year through boot camp. The only other on the list of recruits was some girl, though from the commentary on her it was unclear as to why she had been through boot twice.

Out of those present the only quiet one was the last female of the room, her eyes had wandered over the bios as they appeared but otherwise she seemed indifferent. She figured it didn't matter her opinion, after all she wasn't technically part of the two outfits that shared the joint barracks. The officers there didn't mind her quiet manner, she wasn't one to impose too much on others if she could help it and was invaluable in combat, though was a bit head strong at times. “Hey Angel!” called the female from earlier, Stang. “Whatcha think of the fresh blood?”

The last female in the room, Silent Angel, sighed and closed her eyes, looking as if she was practically asleep. “Does it matter? I'm here to reinforce outfit relations, not interfere with your inner workings.”Stang gave a mental sigh at the reply and shrugged, Angel never really gave actual opinions when they asked, just seemed to be her way. “Well Duel, Elijah you two might want to go pick them up. They should be at the V.R. Room in a little bit according to your schedule.”

“Hold on there lil' lady.” This time the cowboy from earlier, Texreb, stood up and interjected. “I wanna go with the boss man to see the fresh blood. Besides if Duel here goes they might draw some rather unusual conclusions.”He shot the other man, well mentally male, a lopsided grin to accompany his comment. The rest of them did give the man credit though, Duel was a bit awkward when people first got introduced to him so he might not be the best person they meet first up with. The officers filed out of the room, some taking one last glance at the rosters on the wall and giving a small shake of their head, departing into the main common room of the building. A shout of disbelief echoed through the room as the last of the officers in came out of the officer's lounge. A single glance gave a clear idea of what had happened. Their communications, and sometimes tactical, officer, Voodoo, was looking rather bored while their resident sniper, Doom Eagle was standing with an expression of utter shock. The two of them were next to the joint barrack's 3-D table where they were running a mini war game. As it was Voodoo's side was clearly winning while Doom Eagle seemed to be unable to comprehend how half of his side of the table was wearing the colorings of Voodoo's miniature army.

Merely shaking their heads and ignoring the blubbering sniper Elijah and Texreb filed out of the barracks, their destination the V.R. Room for the two outfits. Besides the overly large V.R. Room that was built to allow them to train on their own time it also held the more formal offices of the officers. Taking a right, the pneumatic door hissing as they opened to allow the two men inside, they entered the darkened interior of Elijah's office. The commander of the Wolf Brigade settled himself into the comfort of the squishy, straight-backed chair behind the desk, while his compatriot merely stood to the side. “Alright Tex, send them notice to come over to the office. We'll give them a once over and then take them through the V.R. Program to see how well they work with others.” Nodding, the slightly taller man punched in a small series of commands into the built-in, miniature panel on the arm of his suit.

---

Deep within the metal and nanite structure that made up the V.R. Room of the joint facilities of the Wolf Brigade and their sister outfit ATF gunfire rang out, echoing down the hallways from an open room. Within the confines of the room were five people of various qualities, though the two most prominent were at one end with the standard gun given to all personnel of any faction- the suppressor light submachine gun. The gun itself has a long history of use, as the two who were currently using it were putting it through its paces. Where as the male of the two showed distinct spray patterns on his targets, his female counterpart was using the submachine gun as more of a sniper's weapon with an automatic function built in.

A light 'beep' and a flashing light signaled that there was a message for the occupants of the room. One of the observers of the competition tapped the flashing light on the wall and read the message that read out, announcing to the rest that they were to meet up with the officers of the outfit in order for them to gain a better idea of who they would possibly be working with in the future.

“Aw man, and I was winning too!” came the cry from the male gun wielder, who stood up and let the virtual gun vanish from his hands, the nanite constructed skeleton underneath to provide weight evaporated as well as the system reclaimed the nanites. His female counterpart merely looked at him with a blank look that clearly stood for 'stop lieing before I do something drastic.' This effect was properly lost on the other as he continued to whine about having to cut short is streak of target kills. As a group they proceeded to leave the gunnery range and head towards the office room they had been directed to. The only things about the five figures were the whining male, the sound of their booted footsteps on the floor, and the uneasy silence that had fallen on the four who were not speaking.

---

Pneumatic doors hissed as they slid open to admit the group of five into the briefing room. A large wolf print embedded on a yin-yang of teal and purple stood in the background, the symbol that they now wore on the left side of their uniforms. “Reporting as requested, sir!” they snapped out, four following with salutes, minus the male shooter from earlier. Trailing behind them a moment later was a “what up?” Eight eyes turned to look at the teen who had spoken, though a low laughter left just about everyone in the room confused.

“Brash and disrespectful as ever, good to see some things don't change kid.” Tex shifted the cowboy hat that sat in place of a helmet, attempting to hide a grin while at it. “Alright brats, you've all been selected out of several to join us here at Wolf Brigade. Before you are officially added, however, you lot get to be introduced to our little.. refresher course.” The grin on his face however, was definitely not toe most reassuring of the course being easy.

---

A soft crunching of leaves under foot gave notice to the passing of the five man team, though one stayed back. One figure shimmered slightly before vanishing from sight, the remaining three shifted to behind separate trees, though leaned out to get a good sighting on their target.

Their target was a tower, stretching five stories up into the sky. The behemoth of a tower was like any other standard issue, twin wall mounted guns placed at the upper most level, out above the waving branches of the trees.

A double click echoed out into the helmets of the five. All clear it declared.

“You sure? No snipers up there right?”

A second double click sounded in response. Before the five recruits had set out on their training run, it was agreed to not break radio silence unless absolutely necessary. Apparently Ender's sniper paranoia had gotten the better of him.

The three figures shifted out from cover and rushed forward, slapping up against the wall by the door. A hand signal later and the soft beeping of the R.E.K. At work by the door was the only sound from the three, four if the cloaked one was counted as well. The doors hissed open, all three rushing inside to take their places.

The first two setup on the floor they entered on, punisher rifle and pulsar laser rifle watching the stairs from below. Their third and fourth members slid up and around, heading up the stairs. Only one was visible along the outer wall, while their hidden member slid up along the central column. The first two in, now the rear guard, moved in tandem, moving to give the other cover as they slid up the stairs behind their compatriots, guarding their rear arc. All seemed easy and well, signs of a good infiltration; or a trap waiting to be sprung. The soft whine of the R.E.K. At work tended to get on the nerves of everyone, the tension as Vento set to work almost tangible. It seemed simple enough, one behind Vento to cover him, Instigator taking this spot, one below, Ender, and one above, Lucio. Good coverage, and would allow Instigator to reinforce any problem spots. But as all good things come, they also end.

The communications for all four members crackled to life as their female partner spoke up. “Incoming, three from the roof, hot drop. You got company from the ground floor too. Terrans. I'm moving.”

“Shit. Vento, keep at it. I'm moving to help Lucio, Ender hold where you are.” A series of double clicks answered in response.

Pneumatics above hissed as the doors slid open, simultaneous to Instigator's arrival to support Lucio. Both were waiting, though a duet of hard thumps echoing downward sent them sprawling for cover as vibrant green plasma washed their previous location.

Down below, Ender was tensed up as he heard the detonations above him. Though since his comrades didn't give any indication to needing support he stayed here he was, back glued to the center column, listening for the series of footsteps that would notify him of someone around the corner. He didn't have to wait long. Thumbing the selector on the side of his punisher assault rifle, he slid around the corner and tapped the trigger, a deep thump and sharp recoil signaling the ejection of the grenade from below. The explosive landed on the first floor, sending shrapnel flying all over, clipping one of the incoming troopers as he entered the door way. Already switching back over to the rifle portion of his gun, he scythed rounds across from doorway to the central column, sending the invaders scrambling for cover.

“Going to need back up here. Can't hold them for too long.” his commentary was accompanied with a the sound of metal striking concrete as he reloaded the grenade launcher of his rifle. Already he could hear the troopers moving upwards from below. He swung around, trigger finger already in motion to send the heavy rounds downward into the oncoming masses. The only thing he was rewarded with this time, however, was the sight of the white flashes of impacts on a personal shield as the butt of a gun came flying upwards into his face. His comm gave off static.

“Crap. I think we're on our own here Lucio. Vento get moving, they'll be on you in seconds.” Instigator heard a double click coinciding with the flash on his H.U.D. Showing that the tower was theirs. “Clear us a pathway Destiny, we're coming out the roof.” With his free hand he signaled Lucio forward with the toss of a grenade. The explosion crackled blue, the edge of the sphere at their toes as they rushed forward. Already the crackling of implants could be heard as gunfire cut through their two remaining assailants, the first having dropped to the energy tendrils of the lasher that Instigator carried.

The roof doors hissed open as the two rushed outwards, the automated turrets already firing away at targets below the treetops. The sight below them wasn't too good, though several bodies decorated the floor, showing the handiwork of their fifth member.

“Destiny. Exit?”

“Vento's working on transport, the deli on the northern end. Get moving, its clear for now but they're going to notice the change over so-” The comm cut off as something wet sounding landed on the mic.

“Shit. Vento, get the deli moving, we'll be right behind you.” Both Instigator and Lucio took a glance at the northern railing before charging it, leaping over the railing and plunging downward. They landed with heavy blows on the roof of the moving deliverer transport, the passenger door and back compartment sliding open. Both shifted to roll into them, their rifles clattering off the room and to the floor. As soon as they were settled, both 20mm machine guns roared to life, spraying the tower with gunfire as they drove off.

“Casualty rate of two, kill rate of god knows what. I think we did alright in this, eh guys?” Instigator gave grim cheer to the events.

Back at the tower, a single figure lifted a remote, a smile gracing their lips, the rest of their face hidden behind a glittering black and orange visor. They mouthed the word “boom” as their thumb settled onto the trigger. In the distance the vehicle erupted into a brilliant plume of fire as the explosives that had been planted on it went off.
Chap one Ain't done yet.

Next little bit that If inally got around to writing.

“Alright folks, get your butts in gear and to the barracks. We're on downtime for now, though with fresh blood I'm sure command will be sending us back out into the field soon.” With the dismissal all five recruits gave their salutes, closed fist to the torso, and filed out. Their gear replicated the Wolf Brigade insignia on their gear, the violet and teal wolf paw flashing into existence. Their rank bars followed soon after, signifying their status in the outfit, and officially giving them placement with the unit.

---

The pneumatic doors hissed open and blasted the recruits with a wave of recycled air, though the rest of the occupants didn't seem to mind. Like small children at the zoo, the five wandered past the assembled group and into the sleeping quarters, already in search of their bunks. It took half a moment before they found their collective bunks, already most of their gear sitting on each of them with the outfit logo marked all over it.

In a flash, their gear was stowed and the five headed back into the main living quarters. Instigator, however, seemed to have different plans and had a towel slung across his shoulders as he headed towards the refresher with a wave and a “I'm heading to get cleaned up” to the rest of them.

About half the room, that even bothered to watch what the recruits were up to were barely hiding their laughter. Destinysend leaned to the side, popping off a quick question to one of the members who seemed to be currently engrossed in tinkering with something. “What's the laughter about?”

“You'll see in a second.” came the clipped reply as something seemed to snap in place and the man continued his work.

As if some deity had been watching, the man's comment was punctuated by a feminine yell and something of a rather solid mass and shape hitting the floor. Hard. Half a second later the refresher door slid open and a body came flying outwards. Instigator hit the floor and slid for a good two feet with a dazed look across his face, following him was a rather vengeful looking female clad in a black towel marked with the Brigade's trademark paw.

Destinysend moved forward and knelt down, already a medical applicator in her hands. “What the hell happened?” she asked, more to herself then anyone else. Her question was answered by her still dazed patient. “Hell if I know. One moment there was red and then pain. Next thing I know I got a headache as if I ran into a MAX suit and you're above me... nice rack by the way.” His comment caught her off guard for a half a second, long enough for Destiny to understand she was leaning over near his head, and left just enough time to leave a matching red mark on the other side of the boy's face. Only this time, hers was a lot larger then the already blossoming bruise.

“Leave the kid.” Came a voice from behind her, “It'll teach him not to waltz on in there while one of the girls is in there.” Destiny turned her vision to be greeted by the same man from earlier, his tag on his armor identifying him as Caithann.

“But I thought everything was co-ed here.” Came her confused response. Ever since the war had begun, modesty among the fighting forces had basically vanished. It was a harsh battle that some never came back alive from, so what did they care who started screwing who.

“Yeah. But here we like to keep some form of tradition. We're a family here, and you don't exactly go walking in on your sister now do you?” Caithann shifted to pick up the tech piece he had been working on earlier and moved off towards the outfit's hanger bay. Apparently it was something for one of the vehicles within. Leaving the dazed Instigator to recollect his scrambled thoughts, she followed after Caithann, intent on asking a few questions since he seemed to be the only one talking.
