Alien Swarm - Released and FREE!

Did anyone in ATF play the mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 back in the day called Alien Swarm? It was a fantastically done top-down 4-player coop mod that was bucket loads of fun to play. It was fairly intense and quite hard, but still great fun to play with 3 other people.

I had known that the same team was working on a full-on retail game, but after years of hearing nothing I gave up on it ever coming out (and I would have paid for it as a full retail game given how well the mod was done). Fast forward to today and I find out Valve hired on that team. That and now they released the full game on the Source engine and it's *FREE!* I'll be downloading this immediately. For anyone interested, we should hook up and play a bit. 4-player coop was just way too much fun on the original and hopefully will be a blast on this new release as well. It's really only fun playing coop with others, however, so I need me some people to play with.

Apparently the team who did this was mostly working on the Left 4 Dead series and Portal 2 up to this point, thus the reason it's taken a while to get this out since Valve hired them on a couple years ago. So for those interested, apparently the Left 4 Dead team has a paw in this (though they were doing this before L4D even).

Downloaded it today, played for about 15 minutes before it crashed. It was a lot of fun though, and am currently looking up what the problem might be

Make sure your graphics drivers are fully up-to-date. Mine was crashing a good bit before I updated and I believe that helped solve things.

Need to get a few playing again. The game just isn't that much fun outside of coop.
